Ingersoll Rand Oil-Free Compressors Certified Class 0 per ISO 8573-1:2010 - CAPS

Posted on 11th December 2012 in

CAPS Australia, the largest independently-owned compressed air company in Australia, and exclusive Australian distributor of Ingersoll Rand compression products, is pleased to announce that Ingersoll Rand’s Class 0 certifications have been updated to comply with the ISO 8573-1 Class 0 2010 standard.

The certifications were granted to the entire range of Ingersoll Rand air-cooled and water-cooled oil-free rotary screw compressors (37 to 350 kW) and water-cooled, oil-free centrifugal compressors (160 to 5,000 kW) by TÜV Rheinland®, a global leader in independent testing and assessment services.

Air purity is essential to many critical processes in industries such as pharmaceutical, food and beverage, electronics and textile. In 2001, the Class 0 certification was created in response to industry needs for oil-free air. Class 0 is the most stringent air quality class and certifies that a compressor discharges air free of added oil aerosols, vapors and liquids. Ingersoll Rand has held this prestigious certification on both its oil-free centrifugal and rotary screw air compressor technologies since 2007.

Ingersoll Rand was the first manufacturer in the world to be certified Class 0 for centrifugal air compressors. “This recertification to the latest revision of the Class 0 standard demonstrates Ingersoll Rand’s leadership in complying with the latest technical standards in the industry. The rigorous tests performed shows our commitment to providing best-in-class equipment for our customers,” said Dino Alessio, leading Rotary Screw Compressor engineer at CAPS Australia.

Oil-free compressors not only provide purer air, but save customers time and money while improving their productivity. They reduce maintenance costs by minimizing the need for lubricating oil, inline filters and oil/air separator components. “Ingersoll Rand’s oil-free rotary screw and centrifugal air compressors are also helping manufacturers comply with environmental standards such as ISO 14001 and EU requirements,” added Alessio.

Oil-contaminated air can spoil and ruin products, creating significant losses of revenue and customer trust. Ingersoll Rand oil-free technology can help reduce these risks. By providing pure air, free from additional contaminants, oil-free compressors minimise downtime associated with cleaning filters and other air system components.

Reduced levels of contaminants also help air system components last longer and ensure higher overall product quality.
