At CAPS, our dedicated service team can test the load of your equipment by using a load bank matched to the output of your power generation equipment. We have a range of resistive load banks to simulate ‘real load’ conditions to ensure that all electrical parameters are met when backup power supply is required. Our team is able to perform partial or full load output and full safety checks for reliability and peace of mind.
Load banks are a fantastic way to simulate an electrical load, without putting your connected loads at risk. Designed to withstand up to 1,000kW, our load banks can comprehensively test an electric power source without the need to connect to a normal operating power source, such as a generator or battery. This helps to eradicate any issues within the power system, which may result in an unexpected power failure that could damage the loads.
Any turbocharged engine at low load (<30%) during testing or normal use can only have adverse repercussions on the engine’s operation and service life. Resulting in the following:

Periodic full loads are necessary to unchoke the engine.
The load must be greater than 50% (ideally 80%) to ensure unchoking of the engine and to obtain a decent picture of the set operations.
We strongly recommend carrying out regular load bank testing to ensure the components of your power protection system are performing effectively and optimally when supporting a critical load.
