The Problem

The ACCIONA Trility JV (ATJV) was the delivery contractor for the Mundaring DWTP project and was responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the A$300M water treatment plant.

The requirement was as below

Design and manufacture in compliance with Water Corporation specifications.
A sound level limit of 65 dB(A) @7m.
Reliable and competitive product.
Two sources of power to back up the water pump’s power supply and the water treatment facility downstream.

Solution

Two x 2800kVA and one x 3300 kVA generators equipped with MTU engines were set up in soundproofed containers to provide a reliable source of power.

The containers were specifically designed with sound barrier panels, exhaust silencers and vibration mounts between the generator and the base to reach a challenging sound level of 65 dB(A) @7m.

The solution also integrates a full 7 days fuel supply and bypass system. The cooling system was installed on the roof and allows the generator to run under extreme conditions (up to 42°C).
